It started with a story we needed to tell
For months, we worked quietly behind the scenes on something unlike anything we've done before. We wanted to tell the story of Tennessee's animal crisis in a way that went beyond statistics, legislation, and headlines. Because while those things matter, we believe sustainable change begins somewhere deeper: with the way we view animals.
So we decided to tell that story through music.
It's more than a message. Its a mirror.
We wanted this project to do more than tell people that animals are hurting. We wanted people to feel it. At the heart of House of Cards is a simple idea: animals experience many of the same emotions we do—fear, loneliness, excitement, comfort, grief, and love.
Through the song and music video, we wanted to draw a connection between what humans feel and what animals feel, reminding us that their emotions are no less real simply because they communicate differently.
Because when we change the way we see animals, we can begin to change the way we treat them. And that's where meaningful change begins.
House of Cards is an original song written and performed by Reese Kaylynn exclusively for LSP.
Reese believed so deeply in our mission that she wanted to use her talent to help us tell this story. What began as an idea became something far more meaningful than we could have imagined.
The song—and the accompanying music video—belong to LSP, and they're now part of the story we're committed to telling.
This is more than a music video. It's another way to start a conversation.
Behind the scenes
What you see in the finished video represents months of work and the generosity of so many people. From filming on a friend's property to friends volunteering their time to be part of the video, this project came together because people believed in what we were trying to say.

What happens behind the camera is often just as meaningful as what makes it onto the screen...
This is only the beginning
House of Cards is one chapter in a much bigger story. At LSP, we believe sustainable change begins with education, awareness, and compassion. We believe we can do more than respond to the animal crisis—we can work to prevent it.
And sometimes, changing the future starts with simply changing the way we see the animals beside us.
